An “interface” is the place where the user connects and talks to the computer.
A graphical user interface is more visual than just typing commands at the command line. You may click on buttons, drag files from one place to another, open images to view, and click on menus.
For example:
Microsoft Word is a GUI for writing documents, accessed via a program on your computer.
Galaxy Australia is a GUI for bioinformatics, accessed via a webpage.
