High Performance Computers (HPCs) and cloud computers are both computers located elsewhere that you can connect to and use for analysing data.
HPCs are usually larger than cloud computers and can be used for running analyses that need lots of cores and memory.
Cloud computers are usually smaller modular units, but these can be combined to scale up for larger analyses where required.
You can access both HPCs and cloud computers via your own computer, at the command line interface (e.g. the Mac Terminal or Windows Terminal), and sometimes via a web page.
