The Australian Access Federation (AAF) is exploring CILogon and COmanage to enable federated identity access management for Australian researchers. A pilot implementation of CILogon and COmanage is being implemented for the Human Genomes Platform Project (HGPP) to enable easier access to human genomics resources.

CILogon provides a means for researchers to use their native institution login or alternatives such as Google and ORCID to access resources instead of having to create a separate account. COmanage allows system administrators to configure access to resources through a user interface.
